How it works

Posting

  1. Open Write a confession. Choose a category and, if you like, a campus community.
  2. Read the posting notice, accept the Terms and Guidelines, and confirm you are 18 or older.
  3. Submit. Automated checks run straight away: clear problems like phone numbers or explicit content are refused with an explanation, so you can fix them.

Review

Every submission waits for a moderator. Most are approved or declined within a day. Anything flagged by the automated checks (for example a possible threat, or a post that might identify someone) goes to the top of the queue for a closer look. Only approved posts appear anywhere on the site.

Your receipt

After you submit, you get a private receipt. Save it. On Check a submission it shows the status, lets you edit while the post is waiting, and lets you delete it at any time. We only keep a one-way hash of it, so we cannot look it up or send it to you again.

Campus communities

Anyone can request a community for a university, college or school. Moderators check that it is real and not a duplicate before it goes live at confession.baby/@handle. Pages are independent until a student moderator or an official representative claims the handle and proves their role.

School pages can be found but have stricter rules: adults only, comments off, every post reviewed with extra care, and nothing shown to search engines.

Views and reactions

A view counts when a real browser keeps the confession open for a few seconds, at most once per visitor per day. Bots and link previews are ignored. You can leave one reaction per confession and change or remove it whenever you like. All counts come straight from the database.

Safety

Anyone can report a confession, comment or community. Reports go to moderators and never remove anything by themselves. Urgent reports, such as threats or child safety concerns, are reviewed first. See the Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.
