Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-11

Draft for legal review. Highlighted items must be completed by the operator before public launch. This document does not claim compliance with any specific law.

About these terms

These terms apply when you use confession.baby (the “service”). The service is operated by [operator legal name to be completed before launch] (“we”). By using the service, or by ticking the agreement box when you post, you accept these terms and the Community Guidelines, which are part of them.

Who can use the service

  • You must be 18 or older to post, comment, react, request a community or create an account. Reading public pages is open to everyone.
  • Where local law sets a higher age for using services like this, you must meet that age.
  • We ask you to confirm your age; we do not verify it. Confirming falsely breaks these terms and we will remove content when we learn a poster is under 18.
  • You may not use the service if we have previously removed you, or if the law forbids you from doing so.

Anonymous posting and receipts

You can post without an account. When you submit, you get a private receipt (or, for comments, a key stored in your browser). Anyone with that receipt can check, edit while pending, or delete the submission. Keep it private. We store only a one-way hash and cannot recover a lost receipt or prove who wrote a post.

Anonymous does not mean untraceable in every circumstance. The Privacy Policy explains the limited technical data that is processed and when it might be disclosed.

Your responsibilities

You agree not to post or do anything that breaks the Community Guidelines, including NSFW content, bullying, harassment, threats, hate, impersonation, doxxing, malicious accusations about identifiable people, spam or scams. You also agree not to:

  • try to identify anonymous authors or help others do so;
  • interfere with the service, bypass rate limits or verification, scrape it at scale, or probe it for vulnerabilities without permission;
  • use automated tools to post, react, report or inflate counts;
  • post content you do not have the right to share.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, moderate, and make available your content on the service and in links that point to it, for as long as it is on the service and for a short period afterwards for backups and legal obligations. You can delete your content with your receipt at any time.

You are responsible for your content. Do not post anything that is false and harmful about a real person.

Moderation

We review every confession and comment before it is published, using automated screening and human moderators. We may refuse, hold, edit to remove personal information, remove, or restore content, and suspend communities, at our discretion and in line with the Guidelines. We are not obliged to publish anything.

Moderation is done by people and software and will sometimes be wrong. We aim to be consistent, but we do not guarantee that every post that breaks the rules will be caught quickly.

Communities and handle claims

  • Community pages are created by users and are independent unless marked as verified. They are not endorsed by the institution they name.
  • Requesting a community does not give you ownership of it or its handle. We may rename, merge, suspend or remove communities, and reserve handles.
  • Claims are reviewed manually. We may ask for evidence, approve, reject, or revoke a claim at any time, including when a dispute arises. Community moderators cannot see who wrote any post.
  • Institutions that want a page corrected or removed can contact us through the contact page.

Accounts

Accounts exist for claimants and moderators. Keep your password secure and tell us promptly if you think your account was misused. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. Password recovery is handled manually and requires proof that you control the registered email address.

Reports and appeals

Anyone can report content. If your submission was rejected or removed and you think that was a mistake, you can ask for a review through the contact page, quoting the confession ID. We will not ask for, and you should not send, your receipt.

Service limitations

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Features may change, be paused (for example during an emergency stop on posting) or be withdrawn. Image attachments are not currently available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for content posted by users or for indirect losses arising from use of the service.

  • Governing law and courts: [jurisdiction to be decided by the operator]
  • Liability limits and consumer rights: [to be drafted by counsel for the chosen jurisdiction]
  • Notice-and-takedown and copyright contact: [designated contact to be completed]
  • Law enforcement request process: [to be completed]

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we publish a new version with a new date. Posting after a change requires accepting the new version; we record which version you accepted with each submission.
